Description
Makila made with wild medlar wood, previously marked. Dark horn knob and braided black leather. Decorated with hand-engraved brass ferrules with Basque symbols and steel toe cap.
Main features
- Manufacturing process: The wood is cut in winter, debarked in the kiln, stained with quicklime and heat-straightened. This drying process takes between 5 and 10 years, ensuring that the makila is perfectly straight.
- Brassferrule: The lower part of the makila is adorned with a brass ferrule, hand-chiselled with traditional Basque motifs.
- Handle of horn and brass: The top is topped by a horn handle, mounted on a threaded tube covered with braided leather. For the makila of honour, the handle is made entirely of brass.
- Stainless Steel Tip: The tip of the makila is made of stainless steel and is stainless steel and is hidden under the handle.
